Welcome to the Elsfield Village web site

Elsfield

is a tiny village near Oxford. It has a church that was rebuilt in the 13th century, restored in Victorian times and retains its Jacobean pulpit. The Manor at Elsfield was the home of John Buchan from 1919 - 1935.

Elsfield is mentioned in the Domesday book. Esefelde, later Elsefeld means "Open land of a man called Elesa".
